After many criticized the rear end design of the next generation KIA Sportage (codenamed NQ5), which was recently spotted with little to no camouflage, today is a snapshot of the Sportage prototype, captured with the door open.
Recall that the other day the fifth generation of KIA Sportage with minimal camouflage was spotted on tests near the Nurburgring. These shots allowed us to appreciate the design of the rear of the crossover. This is a regular short wheelbase model – KIA will also release a long wheelbase version which we know will be exclusive to China.
The main changes in the novelty will occur in the front end, where there will be new optics and a “tiger nose” grille. The new Sportage will also use the brand’s newly unveiled logo. The roofline is more sloping and the C-pillar looks thinner, indicating a sporty look in the crossover’s design. This prototype has a yellow decal confirming that the new Sportage will also receive a hybrid and plug-in hybrid variant. However, it will be built on the same platform as the new Hyundai Tucson.
The KIA Sportage was originally supposed to debut in the first quarter of 2020, 1 year ago, but its presentation was postponed twice, first to the end of the year and then to April 2021. Now there is information that the fifth generation Sportage will be presented in June 2021, so the launch may be postponed again.
