Renault, which has published a development strategy called “Renaulution”, has announced plans to make the Alpine brand a manufacturer of all-electric cars. The new development plan of the brand implies the release of two urban electric cars, as well as a racing model, with the development of which Lotus will help the French.
In the published announcement, three different electric cars are presented, which are divided into categories “for me”,” for us “and”for the weekend”. It is assumed that the first model is a compact city car with a power reserve of up to 200 kilometers. In the “for us” class, Alpine will introduce a crossover, and the third electric car of the brand will be the “next-generation sports car”, which will be developed jointly with Lotus and replace the current Alpine A110.
Urban electric vehicles will be built on the common Module Family modular platform. This architecture is the basis of the Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail models, as well as the Renault Espace, Scenic and Laguna. At the heart of the electric car “for the weekend” will apply racing know-how, which engineers will transfer to road cars, while using existing platforms.
The new models will be part of a strategy to transform Alpine into an exclusive, authentic electric vehicle brand. The first copies should be released before 2025.
In October last year, Groupe Renault CEO Luca de MEO spoke about the near future of the Alpine brand. Then it was reported that under this name they plan to produce charged versions of Renault models, for example, the European Clio and Captur.
