In all, more than a century Harley-Davidson longest-lived model is the Sportster. The first generation introduced in 1957 as a successor Model K.
As only Harley-Davidson Sportster hit the market, it immediately attracted the attention of motorcyclists, even though they had a lot in common with the precursors To series- from the frame to the wings, from the tank to the front suspension. The engine is a flat-head mounted directly to the frame, which turned out to be a strong disadvantage for the racers because of the strong vibrations. However, this did not seem a problem for consumers. With this motor mount motorcycles series H-D Sportster produced for many years. In fact, rubber dampers appeared on the 2003 model year to reduce vibration.
Motorcycles Harley-Davidson Sportster produced a lot, but to find a copy of the first year of production in good condition is not easy. This kind of motorcycle was to go under the hammer at a recent Mecum auction in Arizona, but for unknown reasons has not found a buyer.
