Restyling Audi S8: less cosmetics, more drive!

Restyling Audi S8: less cosmetics, more drive!

German manufacturer Audi, it seems, has not closed the gates of its factory, because the officially presented new items appear one after another. A few hours after the premiere of the Audi A8 business sedan and its lengthened version of the A8 L Horch, the company presented the sports version of the S8.

Judging by the characteristics and appearance of the novelty, the creators decided not to spoil their successful car once again – the changes in the S8 can be called minimal. First of all, the front grille has changed outwardly. It has become noticeably wider in its size and has lost horizontal stripes: now it consists of black honeycomb cells.

In addition, the front and rear optics received new lights – LED lighting will appear in a different graphic display. The short eyelashes of the daytime running lights end at the edges with rectangular sickles enveloping the headlights. The taillights also stretch out in a single line, and the four tailpipes are visible from below.

The S8 remains a four-wheel drive vehicle, it has an active suspension and a differential that switches the torque between the rear wheels as quickly and with sporty precision as possible. By the way, the manufacturer will offer customers brakes with a carbon-ceramic compound to increase the braking performance of a sports sedan for an additional fee.

Reinforced brakes come in handy to stop a car with the engine inherited from its predecessor S8. Under the hood of the Audi will be a 4.0-liter V8 with twin turbocharging, which will be able to develop 563 hp. with a maximum torque of 800 N * m. This unit accelerates the sedan to a speed of 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.8 seconds.

Engineers from Ingolstadt considered that such a power would be enough for the updated S8 and did not release another enhanced version of Plus engines, as it was in the past. Considering that BMW did the same with its M7, this can be considered a trend.

Audi has promised that the new S8 will be on sale closer to Christmas. So, in Germany, the new product will cost from 144,800 euros in the database.
