The Japanese company has finally brought Subaru Outback to Europe.
Subaru unveiled the latest generation Outback almost 2 years ago at the New York Auto Show, but it’s only now that the station wagon goes on sale in the European market. The company hopes to improve last year’s sales figures and the brand’s dealers will start selling the model in April. However, the car will differ from the one presented in the US.
The US Outback is offered with a 260 horsepower 2.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine, but in Europe the model will only be available with a 180-horsepower 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine
It also boasts a redesigned continuously variable transmission (CVT) that mimics the gear ratios of an eight-speed automatic transmission, while power loss has been reduced by 22% thanks to a new hydraulic system and lower oil viscosity. As you’d expect from Subaru, the 2021 Outback available in Europe has standard all-wheel drive.
The new Euro Outback – from a more spacious cabin to increased ground clearance – has all the improvements we originally saw in the US model. In addition, the interior is quieter than before due to improved soundproofing of the windshield and front door windows. Body roll has been reduced by a whopping 50% due to the transition to the SGP platform with a new reinforced body and chassis.
