Chinese auto giant Great Wall is preparing to expand its line of off-road models of the Tank brand. The automaker unveiled the Tank 400 concept car last year at the Chengdu Auto Show, and has now filed a design patent for its production version, which should premiere sometime in 2022.
Patent images of the novelty appeared in the database of the “celestial” Ministry of Industry. Judging by the registration pictures, the car will retain the deliberately brutal appearance that was inherent in the prototype (title photo).
We can only guess what the interior of the SUV will look like, which should be comparable in size to the Haval H9.
In the interior of the show car, a dashboard with built-in massive screens in the “wells” was used, as well as a huge multimedia system display and a non-trivial transmission selector. However, most likely, most of these “charms”, if they get to the mass version of the Tank 400, will be in a truncated form.
There is also no information about the technique yet. According to rumors, the engine line of the new Chinese SUV can be made up of 4- and 6-cylinder engines with appendages in the form of starter-generators.
In the Tank brand line, the 400 should sit between the relatively compact and affordable 300 and the more luxurious 500, both of which are already in production. The main competitor of the model is the Japanese SUV Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.
In the future, the list of models of the Tank brand will be replenished with the largest SUVs – 700 and 800.
