Compact Roewe i5 in the new GT-version “for youth” will debut on August 27 at the Chengdu Auto Show. The only question is which unit will receive the “sports” modification. There are no official data. After a facelift, the model was left with one petrol aspirated 1.5 (120 hp, 150 Nm) with a five-speed “mechanics”, variator and front-wheel drive. Most of the Chinese media are not expecting another engine, although in theory there are options.
The enlarged grille with the logo, the new front bumper with “mustache” and the exterior mirror housings are painted in black. The dimensions of the usual “ah-fifth”: 4601x1818x1489 mm, between the axes 2680. Its prices are in the range of 67,900-89,900 yuan (10,500-13,900 dollars).
A forked release (probably fake) has settled in the rear bumper. The diffuser is fitted to the standard sedan, but does not mimic carbon fiber. The wheels are most likely 16-inch (205/55 R16).
This is what the Roewe i5 looks like now. The suspensions are simple: McPherson struts at the front, beam at the rear. Headlights and lanterns – LED “in the base”. Trunk volume reaches 512 liters.

Enthusiasts hope for the return of the 1.5 TGI turbo four (169 hp, 250 Nm) with a “robot” with seven steps and two “wet” clutches, which the top version of the “ay-fifth” had until 2020. Meanwhile, SAIC is slowly but surely introducing the upgraded 15C4E turbo engine (181 hp, 275 Nm) paired with a six-speed “mechanics” and the same “robot” 7TST. However, the “atmospheric” Roewe i5 in China is selling well: last year 128,804 units were sold, for six months of 2021 – 69,604 units.
