British premium car maker Rolls-Royce is preparing to make a historic announcement that autocar.co.uk reports will focus entirely on electric vehicles.
On Wednesday, September 29, the brand will unveil its global electrification plan to the public. It will be the first big announcement since the brand’s CEO spoke about moving away from internal combustion engines in favor of clean technology. In addition, at the same time it was especially emphasized that the manufacturer would not have hybrid cars, the stake was made exclusively on electric vehicles.
So far, the details are kept secret, and most likely no details will be disclosed until the official statements. However, some information is still available. For example, Rolls-Royce has already confirmed that the first electric car will be named Silent Shadow. The parent company BMW Group registered this name last year. Plus, he’ll definitely see serial incarnation before the end of the decade. However, the company itself does not talk about the potential timing of the start of production, mysteriously calling it a “secret”, which gives some hope that at least a concept can be presented in the very near future.
However, the main mystery remains the question of technology. Rolls-Royce has been researching green powertrains since 2011. At the same time, the Phantom electric sedan was demonstrated. But now everything could have changed a lot, and most of the components and assemblies are quite appropriate to borrow from the Germans from BMW.
