We’ve seen prototypes of the Audi RS Q8, but apparently that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to “charged” crossovers from Stuttgart.
In an interview with Auocar managing Director Audi Sport Oliver Hoffmann said the company is developing a modification of the RS for almost every car Audi.
“We need to expand our portfolio, and the SUV segment is the segment with the greatest growth. Our clients have high demand for high-performance SUVs,” said a top Manager, adding that the new Audi RS8 will appear later this year.
This will be the first model in the upcoming wave of jeeps with signboard RS from Audi. Although we do not know what will be installed under the hood, it is possible that RS Q8 will get a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which now is used in the Lamborghini Urus, where he develops 641 HP
It is noted that the sports division Audi Sport is developing a version of RS for the following vehicles: Q3, Q5, Q7 and Q8. Of course, we are not surprised at the appearance of the RS Q3, given that the prototype model was not seen again on the track.
“If you have the SUV segment with more weight, easier to implement a hybrid propulsion system. It’s easier thanks to the compact and more weight,” said Hoffmann, adding that “certainly we will increase the electrical power for our RS models in the future.”
At the moment, Audi Sport offers a wide range of models not belonging to the SUV segment, including the RS3, RS4, RS5, R8 and TT RS.
