Sales of the new supercar McLaren Artura postponed

Representatives of the British brand said that the start of sales of the new supercar McLaren Artura will have to be postponed due to the global shortage of semiconductors.

The 2022 McLaren Artura was slated to hit dealerships this fall. However, winter is already on the doorstep, and there are still no ready-made cars on sale. According to Western publications, the new product will not appear on sale until early July next year. The chip shortage that shook the entire automotive industry finally hit McLaren, who had to delay the start of Artura sales for this very reason. McLaren spokesman Roger Ormischer has officially confirmed this information.

This is not the first challenge Artura faced on its way to launch. McLaren wanted to launch a supercar in the fall of 2020, but had to postpone the launch until June this year.

Problems with the supply chain then delayed the launch of the car in some countries, and the ongoing shortage of chips will further delay the start of sales. McLaren is prioritizing supplying chips for higher-margin models, according to insiders, as it faces the same constraint that affects production of other automakers.

2022 Artura is the brand’s first production hybrid with powerful technological capabilities. Its powertrain connects an electric motor housed in the transmission shroud to a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine. The combined power is 671 horsepower (804 Nm), which can accelerate the supercar to 100 km / h in 3.0 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 329 km / h. It also has a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
