Shelby hit by weights: F-250 superpicap unveiled

American studio Shelby American introduced the F-250 Super Baja. The special edition features a powerful 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel, adjustable and reinforced suspension, giant wheels with an outer diameter of 37 inches, a customized interior and a limited edition: only 250 copies will be made.

For the Shelby workshop, the project is very unusual, because the engine and transmission of the Ford F-250 Super Duty were left unchanged, and the main changes relate to the chassis. Engineers installed Fox 2.5 adjustable struts, replaced both the upper and lower front suspension arms, redesigned the steering and reinforced anti-roll bars.

The final geometric parameters are not given, but Shelby speaks of an increase in ground clearance and suspension travel, as well as an improvement in off-road handling. The Shelby F-250 Super Baja is probably addressed to those who are not satisfied with the factory special version of the Tremor, and the new F-150 Raptor is not suitable due to its weak towing abilities.

Shelby calls the F-250 Super Baja the best tractor in the class, and it’s hard to argue with this statement, because under the hood there is no alternative 482-horsepower 6.7 Power Stroke turbodiesel with a torque of 1424 Nm! On a Gooseneck-type hitch supported on a body, the truck can tow trailers with a gross weight of almost 17 tons.

Identifying a Shelby pickup from the outside is easy with 37-inch BF Goodrich KM3 tires, custom grille, wheel arch extensions, hood with air intake, steel bumpers, footrests, additional lighting and decor. Inside, there are special leather seats with atelier logo, the front panel and the central tunnel are finished with carbon fiber, and the pedals are covered with metal pads.

Traditionally, prices for Shelby products are impressive: the base F-250 Super Baja costs 126 thousand dollars, although a donor F-250 Super Duty Lariat with a 6.7 engine can be purchased for 64 thousand dollars. Part of the double overpayment is due to exclusivity: Shelby will only release 250 super pickups.
