The Volkswagen Group includes many brands and therefore the automaker can afford to divide the work into different brands. Now there is evidence that Skoda has gained full control over the Volkswagen Group MQB-A0 platform.

The Czech company will now be fully responsible for the development of the MQB-A0 architecture. This platform is used for entry-level models from various VW brands. Cars based on the MQB A0 platform are intended for countries with a rapidly developing market.

It is possible that very soon new Volkswagen models based on the MQB A0 will appear on the market. It is noteworthy that the Czech concern will for the first time develop a platform for the global market independently.

Volkswagen specialists analyzed the situation in the car market and found out that models of the entry segment equipped with internal combustion engines will be in demand in India, Latin America and East Asia in the next ten years. The creation of a separate architecture for budget models will allow them to gain a foothold in emerging markets, while others work on the creation of electric vehicles for Europe and the United States.

It should also be mentioned that the development of the MQB A0 architecture for budget models will allow unification of the concern’s cars, which in the long term can increase the company’s income. At the moment Volkswagen Polo, Audi A1, SEAT Ibiza and Skoda Fabia are based on the MQB A0 platform.

Recall that earlier it was reported that Skoda has published the first photo of the new Slavia sedan. The basis for the new compact sedan Skoda Slavia will be the modular platform MQB A0, which is the basis of the modern budget models of the Volkswagen concern.
