Skoda showed a rally Kamiq

The Skoda Academy in Mlada Boleslav has been operating since 2013: it is something like a court college, which trains personnel for Škoda factories and technical centers. And every year, students of the academy develop their own concept cars, and the curators of the projects are in-house engineers and designers of the Czech brand. On the eve, the automaker circulated a teaser drawing of the next project.

Student concept cars are developed on the basis of production Skoda models. This year, the Kamiq crossover was chosen as the basis. It was decided to build a rally version of the model, which, judging by the first teaser image, will be distinguished from the standard version by widened wheel arches, large wheels with aggressive tread and a large spoiler.

This will be Skoda’s eighth student concept car, and in many ways it will be unique. First, for the first time, the Kamiq crossover will form the basis of the project. Secondly, the group of students will be assisted by specialists from the motorsport division of Skoda Motorsport.

So far, the team is in the early stages of work, so the premiere of the concept car will probably take place only in 2022.

Earlier it was reported that Skoda limited the production of cars at factories in the Czech Republic for 2 weeks. According to the manufacturer, this is a necessary measure, which is caused by a shortage of electronic components. If the situation in Asia does not improve, the production sites may be closed by the end of the year.
