Skoda has announced the premiere of the new compact sedan Slavia, which will take place in December this year. This follows from the teaser depicting the outlines of the model’s body and the caption “Winter 2021”.
Skoda Slavia will be the second model of the Czech brand, designed specifically for the Indian market – after the Kushaq crossover, presented in March 2021. The name of the model refers to the bicycles and motorcycles of the same name of the late 19th century by Laurin & Klement, which was continued by Skoda.
In India, the new Skoda Slavia will occupy the segment that is represented in Europe by the Skoda Scala. At the same time, it is possible that Slavia cars will subsequently appear in other countries.
Skoda Slavia will be built around the scalable MQB A0 architecture, which underlies modern budget models of the Volkswagen concern, including the new Skoda Fabia, Volkswagen Polo and SEAT Ibiza. The engine lineup will include 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo engines with 95 and 110 horsepower.
The units will operate in tandem with a 6-speed “mechanics” or with a 7-speed “robot” with two clutches. At the top of the range there will be a 1.5-liter supercharged 150-horsepower “four”, operating only with DSG.
