On the roads of Milan, there are “smart” traffic lights equipped with intelligent cameras that are able to automatically record the passage of a redirection signal, as well as recognize car license plates. Thanks to the built-in digital system, traffic controllers will independently issue fines for drivers who have violated the traffic rules.
The smart traffic lights include a digital system that starts automatically when the yellow light turns on, as well as a smart camera that can recognize car license plates. If the vehicle passes a red traffic light or does not stop in front of the stop line, the system will automatically record the violation, as well as record the events that occurred before and after.
Based on the saved data, the system will automatically issue fines to motorists who have violated the traffic rules.
Thanks to innovative technology, the Milan police are planning to secure road traffic, as well as to get closer to the implementation of the EU program, according to which, by 2030, the number of victims on European highways should be reduced to zero.
