Sony has begun road tests of its concept Vision-S

The press service of the Japanese brand showed a video, which shows how the previously presented concept Vision-S undergoes a series of road tests. The car will not go in the series, at least under the Sony brand.

Sony has shocked the automotive world last month, the company introduced its first car. The show took place at the exhibition consumer Electronics Show 2020. Vision-S Concept is a modernist elegant electric vehicle with advanced Autonomous driving system and a design that reminds us of the recently introduced Polestar Precept and Lucid Air.

The prototype shown in Las Vegas (USA), was just a demonstration vehicle, fitted with a pair of electric motors with a power of 268 HP, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

Now the Japanese tech giant takes the next step by sending S Vision for a series of road tests. Specialists of the company, Sony together with the Austrian Magna Steyr and other partners are conducting joint development to prepare the car for test drives on public roads.

Unfortunately, Sony is not going to join the car business. Instead, all work on the concept, actually, as the car itself, is simply “contribution of Sony in the evolution of cars,” but it will be very interesting to see which of the technologies implemented in the concept will find application in production cars of other companies.

Recall that Vision’s equipped with no less than 33 sensors, which detect people and objects not only outside the vehicle but inside quadruple cabin. It is also worth noting the huge number of screens on the dashboard, and the 360 Audio Reality system that creates three-dimensional sound by placing speakers in each seat.
