We have been observing the testing of prototypes of the second generation Mercedes-Benz GLC for more than a year. Judging by the fresh portion of the pictures, the car will not debut in the very near future: the next test car is tightly camouflaged. Nevertheless, the new photos themselves are interesting: it is now possible to take a closer look at the driver’s interface.
The digital instrument cluster and giant vertical-orientation infotainment touchscreen look familiar: they are clearly borrowed from the sister family of the C-Class, whose interior, in turn, is inspired by the flagship S-Class. Everything else, with the exception of the steering wheel, is hidden from prying eyes with a black cloth.
The affinity with the C-class will obviously manifest itself in other aspects as well. Surely, the engine range will be transferred, which does not include units with more than four cylinders: even the “charged” in the AMG GLC 63, the prototype of which we saw this fall, will get only a “turbo four”. True, in conjunction with an electric motor, it should provide over 650 hp, that is, the hybrid will be noticeably more powerful than the current eight-cylinder GLC 63 S, which has only 510 hp.
You can also count on the emergence of a more advanced adaptive lighting system, full-steering chassis, improved distance keeping systems, lane keeping, traffic sign recognition, parking assistance, new online services – for example, for remote control of things in a smart home .
The GLC, which replaced the GLK in 2015, should receive a successor in 2022. For a restyled version of the crossover in Ukraine they are now asking from $ 47,200.
