The first two generations of the SsangYong Korando SUV were classic frame SUVs, and now the Korean company in distress offers exclusively crossovers, including electric ones. But things are about to change. The automaker is preparing a new SUV with the X200 index, which should become the spiritual successor of the first Korandos. How such a car will look like, decided to present the independent designers of the portal “CarsCoops”.
The renders are based on the official sketches shared by SsangYong this summer. Then the car bore the factory name KR10.
In the design of the new SUV, the Koreans promised to apply the new principle of “Powered by Toughness”, embodying four unique positions: solid architecture, bright contrast, unexpected pleasure and harmony with nature.
The new direction in the exterior of the car can be seen in the contrasting diamond-shaped radiator grille, angular headlight housings and chiseled bonnet. The front bumper, large fog lights, and front fenders, which visually protrude outward, add dynamics to the silhouette of the SUV, look no less interesting.
The platform for the model can be the Mahindra Modular Architecture (MEMSA) or the chassis on the frame, as in the Jeep Wrangler.
Under the hood of the X200 SUV, both gasoline and diesel engines are expected, in addition to which an electric power plant will be offered. However, it is still unknown what kind of motors we are talking about.
The main competitors of the SsangYong X200 should be Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler and Land Rover Defender. The Korean automaker’s new SUV is rumored to premiere in early 2022.
