SsangYong is currently struggling to survive. In the world market, it practically does not play any role, in contrast to the super-successful Hyundai and Kia. Now the manufacturer of brutal SUVs is betting on the Korando e-Motion electric car. Moreover, its European market debut will take place even earlier than in Korea.
Visually, the electric Korando differs from its ICE counterparts with blue decorative elements, a closed radiator grille and new rims. Thus, the dimensions have not changed at all. The length of the model is 4.45 m, the width is 1.87 m, and the height, depending on the configuration, is 1.62 or 1.63 meters. With these dimensions, the Korando e-Motion will be somewhere between VW ID.3 and ID.4.
The model is driven by one 190 hp electric motor. The battery with a capacity of 61.5 kWh provides a power reserve of 339 kilometers according to the WLTP method. Maximum speed is not specified. According to the manufacturer, the car can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in about 33 minutes.
Prices for the new product have already been announced. In Germany, the Korando e-Motion will cost from 38,990 euros. In comparison, the Korando with an internal combustion engine starts at € 23,990.
SsangYong will offer three bundles: Bronze, Platinum and Titanium. Even as standard there is climate control, smart keyless entry, light and rain sensors, 12.3-inch dashboard, multifunction steering wheel, smart audio system with eight-inch touchscreen and six speakers, and a rearview camera.
The mid-range Platinum (from € 41,990) expands the multimedia screen to 9 inches. The package also includes front and rear parking sensors, heated seats and steering wheel, and a smartphone charging stand.
The top-of-the-line Titanium (from 45,590 euros) boasts leather-covered front and rear seats with ventilation, LED headlights, blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, and cross-traffic alert.
