French luxury car maker DS Automobiles will be the first Stellantis to get rid of petrol cars and fully electrify its lineup by 2024, according to the official Twitter account of the head of the British branch of the brand Jules Tilston.
Most Stellantis-controlled brands expect to electrify their lineup by 2027. However, DS Automobiles has a very small range of models, which in this situation is an indisputable advantage, since full electrification can go much faster and with less financial investments. In addition, this manufacturer has a special premium status for the French. It is likely that the former PSA will try to give DS a new image associated with cutting-edge green technology.
Note that at the moment this sub-brand has only one electric model – DS3 Crossback E – Tense. Against the background of Stellantis reports that in the next two years we will see as many as 11 new electric vehicles, we cannot exclude the presence of new products from the French premium brand among them.
As a reminder, Stellantis is the first in the world to want to switch to solid-state batteries. In five years, the first production models with these batteries will be presented, but there is no information yet on which brands will be the first to receive such batteries. It cannot be ruled out that DS Automobiles will be the pioneer in this area.
