It is noted that over 25 years, more than 7 million copies of the Skoda Octavia have been sold all over the world. In 1996, the model became the first compact sedan of the Czech brand after the merger with the Volkskwagen Group. The name Octavia, which translates from Latin as “eighth”, was taken from the car of the same name, produced from 1959 to 1971.
The two-door Skoda Octavia, a version of the Skoda 440, was the eighth Czech car in the post-war era. The development of the Octavia sedan started in 1992, and for the production of the car at the plant in Mlada Boleslav, a new conveyor line was created, which allowed raising or lowering the body depending on the stage of production.
According to Skoda, the new production line made it possible to increase the annual output from 90 to 350 thousand cars. The fourth generation of the Skoda Octavia sedan was officially presented at the end of 2019.
