At a Bring a Trailer auction in the US, the 2021 Honda Civic found a new owner who paid $ 102,000 for him – almost five times what is asked for a basic new Civic. There are two reasons for such a high price tag. We are talking about the Civic Type R Limited Edition, limited to 600 copies of the US series, in which this instance was the first to receive serial number 001. In addition, the hot hatch managed to drive only 27 kilometers.
The special Civic Type R can be recognized by its Phoenix Yellow (the same received the revived Integra), red accents and 20-inch forged BBS wheels with matte black finish and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. wing and wheel arch extensions, but lost some of the noise insulation materials and even the rear wiper in order to reduce weight.
In addition, the suspension and steering have been reconfigured specifically for the Limited Edition, and the list of equipment includes LED headlights and foglights.
The Civic Type R Limited Edition is driven by a turbocharged inline-four 2.0, which develops 306 horsepower and 415 Nm of torque. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
As Carscoops clarifies, the original owner of the Civic didn’t actually buy it: he won the car in a lottery that Honda’s American division ran with commercial company Omaze a couple of months ago. More than 41 thousand people took part in it.
