Stretched C-Class: Why do you need an “E-scale?”

Mercedes-Benz has presented a new generation C-Class sedan with an extended wheelbase at the Shanghai Motor Show: the car for the local market has received an increase of 89 millimeters.

Mercedes-Benz showed at the Shanghai Motor Show an extended version of the new C-Class sedan of the W206 generation: the car differs from the standard specification with a wheelbase increased by 89 millimeters (2954 millimeters) and an overall length extended by 131 millimeters (4882 millimeters). The extended C-Class will traditionally be offered only for the Chinese market: from the outside, the long wheelbase modification can be recognized by the logo in the form of the letter L on the rear pillars, as well as the classic chrome grille with a “sight”. As an option, a “sport” grille with a large three-spoke star and a cross bar is available, which is installed on the “international” version of the C-Class.

The interior of the C-Class L sedan is a top-end version for the W206 model with an 11.9-inch central display, but the long-wheelbase version, in addition to additional legroom for the rear passengers, also received separate rear seats instead of a sofa with a console between them , in which cup holders and connectors for charging gadgets are installed. In addition, the version for the Chinese market is distinguished by more comfortable suspension settings and additional noise isolation of the cab.
