Subaru has unveiled the Forester Wilderness, a special crossover version adapted for off-road use. The first photographs of the car were leaked from the company’s Canadian website. Now the manufacturer has officially presented the novelty and revealed all the details.
Recall that Wilderness (translated as “Wilderness”) is a new sub-brand under which cars with more advanced off-road capabilities are sold. The first model of this family was the Outback Wilderness station wagon in March.
The Forester Wilderness’s ground clearance has been increased by 12.6 mm over the regular model to 233.6 mm. This is possible thanks to new springs and shock absorbers. The suspension settings have been recalibrated so that the wagon is not too shaky due to the increased height.
17-inch alloy wheels of an exclusive design, painted in matt black, “shod” in Yokohama Geolandar tires. The standard full-size spare wheel is stored in the trunk.
Forester Wilderness received a steel protective plate under the engine compartment, hexagonal LED fog lights, an anti-glare sticker on the hood and a roof rack that can withstand 100 kg while driving and 363 kg when parked. Seats are finished with water-resistant StarTex material.
The Wilderness version is offered only with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated “boxer” (185 hp and 239 Nm). It is aggregated with a variator, endowed with a shorter first gear, and permanent all-wheel drive. There is one change in the transmission: the final drive ratio has been increased from 3.7: 1 to 4.11: 1.
In the US, Forester Wilderness starts at $ 32,820. Deliveries will begin before the end of 2022.
