Subaru will revive the “barn” WRX

The Subaru brand intends to revive the five-door version of the WRX. Moreover, it will take as a base not the Impreza GT generation hatchback (produced since 2016), but a stand-alone model – the Levorg station wagon. The Australian edition of CarExpert writes about it.

“The Levorg has established itself as a high performance niche station wagon and will evolve into something a little different,” a Subaru Australia spokesman said. It is assumed that such a Subaru WRX station wagon will be equipped with a 2.4-liter “boxer”, which develops 290 hp.

Recall that the second generation Subaru Levorg has been produced since 2020, the model is still sold only in the domestic market of Japan, it is now equipped with an exclusively 177-horsepower 1.8-liter turbo unit.

The current generation Subaru WRX has been produced since 2014, it is considered the first independent representative of the WRX. Nevertheless, the car is partially unified in terms of the chassis, as well as body elements with the previous model Impreza GJ, produced in 2011-2016.

In June, Subaru hinted at the exterior of the new WRX with its first blackout photo.
