Suzuki has updated its mini-crossover


The Japanese company has updated its crossover Suzuki Ignis, adding a few cosmetic changes, technology, and improved version of the 1.2-litre hybrid powertrain. The redesigned model is now on sale in the UK priced from 13 999 pounds ($18.400).

Pandemic coronavirus was instrumental in the launch of the Suzuki Ignis 2021 model year for Europe, but the universal city car finally went on sale in the United Kingdom, six months after its debut. Exterior changes include a new Suzuki Ignis radiator grille with five bars, new skid plates, as well as revised front and rear bumpers with trapezoidal inlays. Buyers can also choose from three new variants LKP – Caravan Pearl Metallic Ivory, Metallic Yellow Rush and Tough Khaki Pearl Metallic.

The interior is restyled Ignis features a new digital instrument panel with black-and-white edges, and two additional colors, trim – Lazuli Pearl Medium Blue and Medium Grey Metallic. Like the previous model, in the center of the dashboard has 7-inch display infotainment system.

Suzuki also modified 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine car, adding a new fuel injection system, a new system of variable valve timing, the oil pump is variable displacement and electric cooling jets pistons – all this, according to the manufacturer, increased the efficiency of the power unit: the power and the torque is 82 HP and 107 Nm, respectively.


Updates are also spread on hybrid system Ignis. Technology is a standard for the whole range of crossovers, with changes including a battery of greater capacity and improved starter-generator with a belt drive which, according to Suzuki, will provide the greatest fuel economy and minimum CO2 emissions.

Standard 1.2-liter hybrid powerplant transmits power to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission, though buyers can still get Ignis with four-wheel drive. Finally, an updated Ignis now optionally available with a CVT gearbox in versions of SZ-T and SZ5.

The standard equipment of SZ3 Ignis updated entry-level includes 15-inch steel wheels, led headlights, six airbags, door mirrors in body colour, electric front Windows, rear safety glass, air conditioning and a DAB radio with connectivity via Bluetooth.

The SZ-T receive 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, fender flares, rear view camera and infotainment system with touch screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Unlike the entry-level model, buyers get four seats instead of five, while the standard rear seat is replaced by a pair of sliding rear seats.

Top model of Suzuki SZ5 is equipped with a pair of front fog lamps, automatic climate control, satellite navigation, Keyless entry system, rear power Windows, and a number of driver assistance technologies.
