Suzuki’s small SUV debuts two years after the premiere of the new generation Swift hatchback.
This is reported by the Japanese edition of Best Car Web, citing an informed source.
The fourth generation Suzuki Swift should debut next year and it is likely that an SUV based on it will become a technical clone of the recent Toyota Yaris Cross – as part of a technical cooperation agreement.
In this case, the model will receive a hybrid power plant based on a three-cylinder gasoline “aspirated” with a volume of 1.5 liters (80 hp), an electric motor on the rear axle and a lithium-ion battery. Otherwise, a 1.4-liter “turbo four” is expected under the hood, working with a 48-volt hybrid “makeweight”, developing about 140 horsepower.
A mini-SUV based on the new Swift Sport will go into production in 2024. The Japanese automaker expects the model to be in high demand.
The official premiere of the next generation Suzuki S-Cross / SX4 crossover took place today.
