The Japanese company can not cope with the volume of production of the new SUV Suzuki Jimny. It was therefore decided to establish the manufacturing models in India to meet demand in the export markets.
At the moment, the production of Suzuki Jimny is Japanese only plant in Kosai. And the company is unable to cope with the emerging demand for compact SUV and, possibly, will adjust its production in India. This can happen as early as 2020, but no official confirmation yet. The issue is to establish local and international market, including the CIS countries and Africa.
It is worth noting that the rumors about the launch of Jimny in India apply for several years. Stopping factor for the company was low demand in the local market. But considering the export ambitions, and the popularity of the new generation, these barriers can disappear.
Recall that in Japan, the Jimny is proposed as a kei car with a motor of 0.6 liters, which helps in tax benefits. In the international market under the hood is hidden a more classic 1.5-liter engine capable of developing 102 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque.
