Tesla and Samsung are actively collaborating on a project to create a new autopilot chip. This is a microprocessor that will be used in the FSD system.
The new chip, which Tesla is working on in partnership with Samsung, will be used for Hardware 4. The latter will be responsible for the autopilot in all Tesla vehicles manufactured since the end of 2022.
The manufacturer does not provide detailed information about the new processor yet. It will be manufactured in a 7Nm process at Samsung’s Hwaseong facility.
It is known that a company from South Korea has already mastered the production of chips using the 5 Nm process. The novelty should appear in the Tesla Cybertruck pickup truck, which will appear towards the end of 2022. Now both manufacturers just agree on the design of the microcircuits.
Back in 2016, the head of Tesla announced that all cars of the brand will be produced with the equipment that will be needed for full autonomy. Then the manufacturer used Nvidia in electric cars.
