The investigation into this traffic accident is still pending. The Tesla driver himself claims that the car was in unmanned mode.
In Florida (USA) Tesla Model 3 crashed into a police car. According to CNBC, at the time of the accident, the unmanned mode was activated in the American electric car, and the driver himself was distracted from the road. There were no casualties as a result of the incident.
As Jalopnik specifies, the accident happened at about 5 am. A police car pulled over to the side of the road to help the driver of a Mercedes-Benz GLK 350 with technical problems. At that moment, a Tesla crashed into the police car, and then a German car was also rammed.
Immediately after the accident, the Tesla owner stated that he had activated autonomous driving mode before the accident. At the moment, the police are checking this fact. The investigation of the accident has not yet been completed.
Judging by the photos from the scene of the incident, the electric car received serious damage to the right side of the body. As for the police car, it turned out to be badly dented on the side.
This is not the first incident involving Tesla electric cars and police cars. So, in mid-March in the United States, the Tesla Model Y crossover crashed into a standing Dodge Charger patrol car. The police car was parked in accordance with all traffic rules with flashing lights on. In turn, the driver of the electric car claims that at the time of the accident, his Tesla turned on the Autopilot semi-automatic control mode. The cars themselves were seriously damaged as a result of the accident.
