Tesla crashed into a police and ambulance: blame the autopilot

Triple accident, the culprit was the Tesla Model S, occurred on Tuesday on the highway of Arizona (USA). First electric car crashed into a police SUV Chevrolet Tahoe, and that, in turn, knocked the rear part of the bus ambulance. Both cars were at the scene of another accident. Fortunately, a policeman in the car at that moment was not, and in an emergency no one was hurt.

23-year-old driver of the Tesla was taken to a nearby hospital with serious but not fatal injuries. He passed the examination, and the police suspect that the guy was under the influence of drugs.

The driver explained to the officers that he used a system-pilot on the car.

Accidents involving semi-Autonomous piloting system in the Tesla electric cars, recently not uncommon. The U.S. government has investigated many similar incidents and came to the conclusion that drivers are too rely on new technology, but Tesla warned that the system auto-pilot do not end up offline and it is safe to use on the roads only if the driver remains alert and ready at any moment to seize control.
