Tesla has published a short video from the tests of the Semi electric truck at its test site. The video shows a prototype of the future novelty without a trailer. It is assumed that this is the final design of the car, and it is in this guise that the car will go into series production. According to foreign media reports, the first electric trucks will be shipped to customers by the end of this year.
According to the head of Tesla Elon Musk, the Semi electric truck will be able to travel up to 1000 kilometers on a single charge. According to him, such indicators can be achieved thanks to modernized batteries and advanced technologies of American engineers.
It is assumed that the Tesla Semi truck will be driven by a power plant, which will include four electric motors. According to preliminary information, the model will be able to accelerate from standstill to 100 km / h in five seconds without a trailer, and with a trailer weighing 40 tons – in 20 seconds. However, there is no official confirmation of this information yet.
Recall that the premiere of the Tesla Semi electric truck prototype took place back in November 2017, after which the start of mass production of the car was repeatedly postponed. Initially, it was planned that the car will enter the assembly line in 2019. The reasons for the postponement are not specified.
Earlier it was reported that Tesla is starting to lose control of key markets amid the promotion of competing electric car models by other major automakers.
