At a meeting with Tesla employees, Elon Musk said that the automaker plans to release the previously announced $ 25,000 electric car in 2023. He also hinted that the new model won’t even have a steering wheel.
At Tesla Battery Day last year, CEO Elon Musk announced that Tesla will produce an electric car for $ 25,000.
“Tesla will make an attractive $ 25,000 electric car that will also be fully autonomous,” said Elon Musk.
He explained that this new price point is being achieved through new efforts by Tesla to produce battery cells and accumulators that can reduce the cost of batteries by more than 50%.
Now Elon Musk has named the exact dates at the corporate meeting. According to him, the production of an electric car for $ 25,000 will begin in 2023. He also made it clear what kind of car this will be, referring to the staff:
“Do we want this car to come out with a steering wheel and pedals?”
