Analysts summed up the results of new car sales in the UK for December 2020. The results were a bit surprising. The bestseller of the market was the electric sedan Tesla Model 3, which was chosen by about 6 thousand Britons. This result was influenced by various bonuses that Elon Musk promised customers.
This was done to achieve the annual sales plan. In the second position is the previous leader of the rating – the German Volkswagen Golf hatchback. In total, at the end of December, 132,682 new cars were sold in the UK, which is significantly lower than last year’s level, when the sales volume was 148,997 copies.
At the end of the year, the volume of sales of new cars stopped at 1,631,064 units, losing 680,000 units to last year’s result.
Note that 2020 was a very successful year for electric cars in Europe – cars with an electric component accounted for 10% of all cars sold.
Earlier, we talked about sales of new electric cars in Norway for 2020. Electric cars accounted for more than 50% of all sales. Thus, Norway became the European leader in this indicator, and by a large margin.
