Tesla Rivian accused of stealing trade secrets

Tesla has filed a lawsuit against startup Rivian, accusing him of poaching employees and theft of information, constituting commercial secret, according to Bloomberg.

Leading manufacturer of electric cars claims that four of his former employees who had access to classified information, revealed them to my new employer – the company Rivian. Tesla suspect in the theft of information may be involved, two more ex-employee.

“Such behavior can only be one motive – the use of commercial confidentiality to accommodate the competing interests of the new employer”, – said in a lawsuit sent to state court in San Jose, California. Just Rivian hired 178 former employees of Tesla, and 70 of them joined the company directly after the work in the Tesla.

Rivian, investors which are registered, Ford Motor Company, T. Rowe Price Associates, BlackRock, and Amazon, denies the allegations. Representatives of the company assured that all new employees undertake “not to introduce the intellectual property of former employers in the system Rivian”.

Startup Rivian was founded in 2009. For 11 years the company has grown to 2,400 employees who work at companies in the States of Illinois, Michigan and California, as well as in Canada and the UK. The total amount invested in the company, today is about six billion dollars.

In the line of Rivian is available in two models – truck SUV R1T and R1S. Both cars are equipped with four electric motors with a total return of 760 HP and 1120 Nm of torque. Cruising range without recharging is 645 miles.

A startup is going to start production of electric cars in 2021. On the official website Rivian open pre-orders for both models, the cost of which starts from 69 thousand dollars.
