Two short videos shot with a drone have been posted online. The footage shows the Tesla Semi electric truck moving around the test site. Presumably, the electric tractor is undergoing final tests before the start of mass production.
In the published footage, a white electric Tesla Semi runs on a test track next to the company’s headquarters in Fremont. In front of the future novelty, the Tesla Model Y electric car is moving, from which video is being filmed. Thanks to the video taken from the drone, you can see the design of the electric truck. Presumably, it is with this exterior that the first production models will go on sale.
Tesla Semi should be on the assembly line in July this year. Then the engineers plan to produce basic versions of electric tractors, which do not have a berth. By the end of the year, the company is going to assemble about 2,500 electric trucks. And already in 2022 the production volume should be up to 10,000 models.
According to Elon Musk, Tesla Semi will be able to travel up to 1000 kilometers on a single battery charge. Thanks to four electric motors, up to “hundreds” of an electric tractor with a 40-ton trailer can accelerate in 20 seconds.
In early February, spy photos of one of the four existing prototypes of the Tesla Semi electric truck appeared on the Web. Then it was reported that the models are being prepared for active testing.
