Tesla Semi this year will get only one client

The Tesla Semi electric truck may soon go to the first customers, the head of PepsiCo Ramon Laguarta expects that his company will receive “green” trucks in the fourth quarter of this year. Laguarta said this in an interview with CNBC.

At the same time, Carscoops claims that Tesla was going to start production of an electric truck only next year.

“Transport accounts for about 10% of our total harmful emissions. This is really very important and we are working on a solution to this issue. For example, a company regularly changes its vehicle fleet – about once every ten years. So, we bought Tesla electric trucks. They should be delivered to us in the fourth quarter of 2021, ”explained a top manager of PepsiCo.

According to the head of Tesla Elon Musk, an electric truck will be able to travel up to 1,000 km without recharging. According to him, such indicators can be achieved thanks to modernized batteries and advanced technologies. At the same time, Tesla previously cited other data regarding the maximum mileage of Semi trucks. It was reported that in the standard version Tesla Semi will be able to travel up to 500 km, and in the top-end – up to 800 km.

It is expected that the power plant of the machine will include four electric motors. According to preliminary data, the truck will be able to accelerate from standstill to 100 km / h in five seconds, and with a trailer weighing 40 tons – in 20 seconds. However, there is no official confirmation of this information yet.

The Tesla Semi electric truck prototype premiered back in November 2017. After that, the date of the start of serial production of the novelty was postponed more than once. Initially, it was planned that the heavy cargo will be on the conveyor in 2019. The reasons for the postponement of these dates are not known.
