Tesla is in talks with at least three Indian auto parts suppliers as part of its plans to enter the local market. The automaker is looking for critical electrical, electronic and mechanical components. Parts include dashboards, windshields, differential brakes, gears and power seats.
Sona Comstar Ltd., Sandhar Technologies Ltd. and Bharat Forge Ltd. are among the Indian companies already supplying components for Tesla. The electric car manufacturer does not comment on this information.
In July, CEO Elon Musk said that Tesla’s car manufacturing plant in India is “highly likely” if the EV maker can start selling imported cars first.
