Photos of a special brochure about the Subaru Forester crossover in a more off-road version of Wilderness have appeared on the web. Photos were published shortly before the official debut of the car.
Subaru has been hinting at a new rendition of the Wilderness for a month, leaving us in the dark as to which model will get this off-road version. Canadian web site Subaru (which was later closed) reports that the next Wilderness option will be the Forester crossover.
The new Forester in the Wilderness version has received many innovations that make it more suitable for off-road driving than the standard Forester crossover.
This isn’t a full-fledged SUV, but it has a couple of major improvements that some off-road fans should like. Subaru has updated the exterior with additional cladding. There are 17-inch black rims wrapped in all-terrain tires, increased ground clearance. Reported. which also increased the carrying capacity of the roof rails – now they have to withstand additional equipment.
The Forester Wilderness gets a new lowered CVT, which is primarily intended to improve engine power at low revs. Subaru engineers have also modified the transfer case and rear differential gear ratio. Under the hood is Subaru’s 2.5-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder, which boasts 182bhp. (239 Nm). There is also an additional underbody protection plate.
