The exterior of the new BMW 2-Series coupe was revealed before the premiere. The photo of the second-generation two-door in the top version of the M240i xDrive was first posted on the wilcoblok Instagram account, and then the bmwblog portal confirmed its authenticity. BMW managed to surprise the fans: the “two” distinguished itself by optics uncharacteristic for Bavarian models, door handles for a reverse grip, unusual triangular air intakes and small “nostrils”.
For the first time, the new BMW 2-Series without disguise was photographed last year, and then an eyewitness also came across a version of the M240i xDrive. The exterior of the model has not changed in 14 months, except that the M plate on the air intake of the front bumper has no production version.
BMW itself spoke about the technology of the top “two” – under the hood of the “two hundred and fortieth” twin-turbo six 3.0 will remain, but the power will increase to 374 horsepower. All-wheel drive xDrive with electronically controlled rear differential lock and 8-speed automatic is the prerogative of the M240i, while the basic four-cylinder “twos” and the “charged” M2 will retain rear-wheel drive. Buyers of six-cylinder coupes will not have to pay extra for adaptive chassis, variable-ratio steering and amplitude-dependent dampers.
The premiere of the second-generation BMW 2-Series coupe will take place on July 6, and the public display of the novelty will take place at a show in British Goodwood. At the start of sales, the compact two-door will be available in two versions 230i and M240i xDrive, but in the future, the appearance of less powerful “two hundred and twentieth” coupes is possible. The uncompromising M2 will debut no sooner than a year from now.
