The winners of the “German Car of the Year” award have been announced. Of the five models, there are three electric vehicles at once. Later, one winner will be selected from among them. This is reported by the Autoevolution website.
The laureates were identified in five different categories:
- Best Compact Car – Peugeot 308
- Best Sports Car – Porsche 911 GT3
- Best Crossover – Hyundai Ioniq 5
- The best premium car (worth 25-50 thousand euros) – Kia EV6
- The best luxury car (over 50 thousand euros) – Audi e-tron GT
The absolute winner will be announced at the end of November. And it is very likely that it will be an electric car. Moreover, the demand for electric cars in Germany has grown significantly this year: even the long-term market leader Volkswagen Golf lost the leadership to Tesla Model 3.
The Car of the Year in Germany is chosen by a jury of 20 German-speaking car journalists. Among them there are representatives not only from Germany, but also from the USA, Australia, China and Japan. When choosing the best, they took into account the characteristics of the car, compliance with market requirements and the level of innovation.
