Chinese journalists have revealed the appearance and characteristics of the first electric crossover BMW M. Portal Autohome.com released official photos of the BMW iX M60 and announced that the twin-engine power plant will develop 619 horsepower and 1100 Nm of torque. The top version of the “battery” crossover will be able to travel without recharging up to 575 kilometers in the WLTP cycle, acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h will take 3.8 seconds, and the maximum speed will reach 250 km / h.
The first electric crossover from BMW M division was supposed to debut at CES in the first week of January, but then the German brand withdrew from the show due to the coronavirus and announced that the iX M60 will be shown in an online presentation.
It was not possible to keep the appearance and basic parameters of the “charged” iX M60 a secret, but the exterior and interior of the “sixty” are almost the same as those of the richly equipped iX xDrive40 or iX xDrive50 crossovers. The top-of-the-range equipment can be recognized by the bronze accents, the M badges on the fenders and the M60 badge on the fifth door – there are no other distinctive features.
The capacity of the traction battery has not yet been announced, but it looks like the iX M60 will receive a 105.2 kWh battery, like the “fiftieth” version. A different calibration of electric motors reduced autonomy by nine percent (up to 575 kilometers), but acceleration from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour was reduced by 0.8 seconds (up to 3.8 seconds), and the maximum speed increased by 50 kilometers per hour (up to 250 km / h). It looks like the electric “emka” will be distinguished by a fully controlled chassis, but there is no official confirmation of this.
The BMW iX M60 should be fully declassified within a week. Reporters believe that sales of the first BMW M crossover without an internal combustion engine will begin in the summer of 2022.
