A joint venture of the Chinese company SAIC Motor and the us giant General Motors unveiled a cheap universal Wuling Hong Guang Plus for the local market. Novelty is a roomy three-row cabin and built on “truck” chassis. Local media predict a base price of 70 million yuan ($9 800).
The size of Hong Guang Plus much larger “Largus”: length – 4720 mm, width – 1840 mm, height – 1810 mm. However, the wheelbase of Chinese wagon is smaller than then: 2800 mm vs 2905 mm. Depending on the configuration of the second row seats, the cabin Hong Guang Plus maybe seven or eight.
Basic compact van is empty: there is only Radiola and air conditioning. The top versions are equipped with 8-inch display multimediasystem, combined upholstery chairs, glossy look of the front panel, cruise control and rear view camera. Modern security systems for Wuling model does not offer.
The Foundation of Hong Guang Plus archaic: rear axle beam, suspension spring, engine is front-mounted, rear-wheel drive. No alternative power unit: diesel 1.5-liter 147-horsepower (torque 245 Nm) turbo engine combined with a six-speed “mechanics”.
Sales of the Hong Guang Plus will start this month. Prices are not announced yet, but experts agree that the basic version will cost less than 10 thousand dollars. For comparison, prices for a seven-seat station wagon Lada Largus R90 begin with $ 10,500 at the current exchange rate.
