Global parts supplier and transmission company ZF announced that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has appointed a global provider of transmission for its rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive vehicles. ZF will supply the new 8-speed automatic transmission, making this order the second-largest in company history.
Representatives of the company announced that the latest version of 8-speed ??gearbox has been further optimized and has an integrated electric drive for hybrid vehicles.
“We are pleased that the FCA has put forward us as a global supplier of powertrain. This is our second large order for the new 8HP transmission, and it confirms our strategy to focus on plug-in hybrids as the daily decisions and develop attractive products in these areas,” said wolf-Henning Scheider, CEO of ZF.
Leading manufacturer of new (and fourth) generation of powertrains will start mass production of its boxes in 2022, the factory ZF in saarbrücken. The company also plans to start production in other regions, including the USA and China.
