Hyundai has kept its word. The first copies of the new IONIQ 5 will hit European roads by early summer and several weeks ahead of schedule. Norway is the first European country to receive its share of the 3,000 IONIQ 5 Project 45 Special Edition units.
IONIQ 5 has become one of the most anticipated new electric vehicles. Its owners are counting down the days to drive the South Korean brand’s first new generation battery model, the IONIQ 5, which has also launched the e-GMP platform. Hyundai celebrated the world premiere of the model with a special edition IONIQ 5 Project 45, limited to 3,000 pieces for France, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany and Norway.
42% of orders for the model came from Norway. This is where the IONIQ 5 Project 45 special version was delivered. In this Scandinavian market, the IONIQ 5 is available with full Premium equipment, 20-inch alloy wheels and a Vision Roof.
At the moment, the range is limited by a battery with a maximum capacity of 72.6 kW / h with a maximum range of up to 481 km with a rear power plant and 460 km with all-wheel drive. The first is equipped with one rear electric motor, while the second has two, adding another one to the front axle. Buyers will be able to choose between 160 and 225 kW of maximum power, which is equivalent to 218 and 306 hp. respectively.
The brand has confirmed that the first available models will be the Long Range, followed by the Standard Range model equipped with a 58 kWh battery. At the European level, Hyundai has confirmed 236,000 customer interest in the new IONIQ 5 since its announcement, which marks the arrival of ships as large as the one that landed in Norway.
