Recently, the specialized Japanese media reported that Lexus is working on a new model in the crossover segment, which will be located in the subcompact class, taking a position one step below the small SUV UX. How such a car would look like was shown on the first render.
According to unofficial information, the crossover will be called Lexus LBX (this name was patented last year), and it will be a redesigned version of the Toyota Yaris Cross.

As you can see in the render (title photo), such an off-road vehicle can get a more luxurious style of design in comparison with a budget “donor”. At the same time, the car should retain the proportions of the original Yaris Cross, while the design of its front and rear will be carried out with an eye to the corporate identity of the premium brand.
The crossover is presented with a recognizable grille, inside which is a spindle pattern, narrow LED head optics and a massive front bumper.
Considering the platform (GA-B – a kind of TNGA architecture), the line of crossover engines will include at least a hybrid power plant based on a 1.5-liter gasoline “troika”, working in tandem with an electric motor. The total power of such a tandem will be 116 horsepower, and an electromechanical variator will be a bundle for it.
