Toyota on November 9 held a presentation of its first mass-produced electric vehicle bZ4X. The new product was presented online at the end of October, but now the manufacturer has shown the crossover to the public “live”.
Toyota bZ4X is based on the new e-TNGA platform, developed in conjunction with Subaru for electric vehicles with front, rear or all-wheel drive. The total body length is 4690 mm, width – 1860 mm, height – 1650 mm. The bZ4X is almost the same size as the RAV4, but the electric car has a noticeably larger wheelbase – 2850 mm versus 2690 mm. Thanks to this, the novelty provides a reserve of space for passengers in the second row at the level of the D-class sedans.
bZ4X will be available in two versions: with one and two electric motors. The front-wheel drive version has one 204 hp engine, the all-wheel drive version – two 109 hp each. (a total of 218 hp). The acceleration time from standstill to 100 km / h is 8.4 and 7.7 seconds, respectively. Weight differs insignificantly: 1920 and 2005 kg.
Regardless of the number of engines, a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 71.4 kW * h is used, covered with a steel sheet from below. The power reserve is 500 km for the front-wheel drive version and 460 km for the rear-wheel drive (WLTC test cycle). Supports fast charging up to 150 kW (up to 80% in 30 minutes). From the factory, the vehicle can be fitted with wheels up to 20 inches in diameter.
For the novelty, two types of steering wheel are offered: normal and in the form of a steering wheel. The second is called One motion grip: since this steering wheel turns only 150 degrees in each direction, you can drive the car without changing the grip. A rotating washer and a dedicated parking button are used as the transmission mode selector.
Toyota has yet to announce a sales start date or pricing for the bZ4X.
