The premiere of the Citroen C5 Aircross crossover took place back in 2017. The car first appeared in China, and a year later entered the European market. In the “Celestial Empire” the model is not in great demand, but in the “Old World” it has buyers (69 thousand 750 cars sold in 2020). Most likely, the planned update of the C5 Aircross will be the first European cross, a disguised prototype of which was recently seen on the roads of France.
Judging by the first photos, the modernized SUV will receive a different radiator grille and headlights, and in general, the front part of the model’s body will be decorated in the style of the latest Citroen C5 X, C3 Aircross and C4. The rear lights, as you can see in the photo, will retain their previous shape, but change the “filling”.
In addition, the bumpers will undergo retouching, and the side protectors of the Airbump will be finalized.
Spy shots did not show how the interior of the new C5 Aircross will look like. However, there will hardly be many new things in the interior of the crossover. Almost certainly, the French SUV will get a larger touchscreen display of the multimedia system, as well as change materials for finishing.
“Technique” of the reform crossover, according to unofficial data, will remain the same. If this turns out to be the case, then the line of engines of the restyled C5 Aircross will include 1.2- and 1.6-liter gasoline “turbo-triples” with a capacity of 130 and 180 horsepower, as well as a 4-cylinder 1.5-liter turbodiesel for 130 “forces”. There will be two transmissions to choose from, as before: it will be a 6-speed manual gearbox or an 8-band “automatic”.
The new Citroen C5 Aircross should go on sale in Europe in 2022.
