Haval Jolion appeared in China in early 2021. Meanwhile, the Chinese brand is already preparing an updated version of the popular crossover, with modified optics and a slightly modified grille. The spy photos were leaked to Autohome.com.cn, and other Chinese media outlets shared images of the car without camouflage, showing the changes that have taken place in the Jolion’s exterior design.
The most noticeable change is the grille with a mesh structure, while the current Jolion has a pattern of lamellas. The turn signal sections have increased in size, and they themselves consist of many horizontal LED elements. The headlights of the updated crossover are adjacent to the “grill”, and the model name plate is located at the very top edge of the grill. The stern, most likely, will not be changed, although the taillights in the spy photos are different.
No changes in the range of engines are foreseen. In China, Jolion will continue to be equipped with a 1.5-liter engine with 150 horsepower in combination with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed “robot”.
The Chinese Cars portal suggests that the rush to update the model is explained by the average sales of Joliom in China: in 10 months of 2021, the model sold 52.9 thousand copies. For comparison, sales of Jolion’s main competitor in the local market, Geely Coolray, exceeded 112 thousand units during the same period. The result of another Chinese crossover, Chery Tiggo 4, amounted to more than 78 thousand units.
