Hyundai Motor has distributed the first brand pictures of a fundamentally new model for itself – the Casper subcompact crossover (AX1). This is the smallest SUV in the range of the South Korean brand.
The length, width and height of the novelty are 3595, 1595 and 1575 mm, respectively. Despite its modest dimensions, the new Hyundai Casper has a five-door body and a salon designed for four adults. The wheelbase of the crossover is 2400 mm.
The car is built on the Hyundai-Kia K1 platform, which is already used for the latest generation Hyundai i10 minicar.
The body of Hyundai Casper was created from scratch, in the exterior attention is drawn to the rear door handles hidden in the window frames, bunk headlights (low and high beam units are mounted in the bumper), an unusual radiator grille with a “gradient” pattern solution and visually expanding the body is stamped over the wheel arches.
The range of engines of the model includes two units of the Kappa family – a 1.0-liter gasoline naturally aspirated and turbo engine. Aspirated power – 75 hp, turbo – 99 hp. They are combined exclusively with a 4-speed “automatic” and front-wheel drive, a 4×4 transmission is not provided in the design in principle.
A pure electric version of the model has also been announced – presumably, it will be equipped with a 135 kW (184 hp) BorgWarner unit.
The salon and other details about the new product will be revealed later.
In South Korea, production of Hyundai Casper will start on September 15th. The model is also planned to be offered outside the home market – in Western Europe and India.
